ABOUT

Reflection:

The assigned purpose of this project was to create an interactive, multiple timeline story, where the audience chooses their own path. For my project I have used a combination of images and written text as a form to lead this story. I have used HTML editing programs to make it the interactive, video game like look, with the audience starting on a page with some informative text and then choosing how they will proceed further. Each choice will lead them on a different pathway of various lengths. Some of them are short and some of them lead over several other interactive pages.

Unlike any other follow your own path stories; I have decided to not include an option to start over at the end of the story, as its purpose is to simulate a real life situation, where your actions shape an unchangeable future. This is why the title is called “Simulated Reality.” I have made 3 types of endings, each determined by how you approach the story, being the good, ok and bad. There are couple endings, which repeat multiple times. I have tried to capture the idea of some outcomes being inevitable due to our choices in our lives. Most of the outcomes are either very pessimistic with a dark, twisted outcome or very optimistic with very unlikely ending. The story comments on how our daily actions and decision can change our future drastically and how the outcome of our future is simply unpredictable.

I made the texts and most of the images myself, with each of the two elements conveying the story and complimenting each other. There are some images, which I have taken from the Internet, which are listed at the bottom of this page. I have made all the images and text neon green to symbolize the “simulated” aspect of the story, being inspired by the movie trilogy Matrix.
